Highlighted NEX Stocks For November 2nd

Thirty-five NEX stocks traded on Friday. Of these, 13 advanced, 7 declined and 15 remained unchanged. There were 137 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume, as it was on Thursday, was Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], with 869,000 shares traded. According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Friday was also Golden Hat. In addition, GHA.H traded the most frequently of any NEX-board stock, as elaborated upon below, as well as first on the top ten daily-turnover list found below. This makes Golden Hat the "stock of the day" for Friday.

Two NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Friday. The most numerous trader in terms of number of trades was, as mentioned just above, Golden Hat; it traded 29 times. The action in GHA.H's trading was much like that of Thursday's: the stock strained at the resistance level of 10 cents/share, sometimes reaching above it but then falling back down; it ended up with a slight gain on the day. As might be expected, there were presumably several large blocks in the trades, as suggested by similarities in timing and buy-side financial institution. The first ten trades, all made from about 9:34 AM ET to 10:36 AM ET, were all made through Wolverton. The first six trades all went within three-and-a-half minutes of each other, but their total volume was 162,000. Based upon the trade record, it seems that there was one block of 160,000 shares or two of 80,000 each, with a 2,000 share trade stuck in between them as the third trade, but the record wasn't definitive on this count. The first six went at 10 cents/share, and the seventh went at 9.5 cent/share. The last four of the ten left a less ambiguous record; they seemed to comprise a single block of 150,000 shares. Those four trades all went at 9.5 cents/share. There also seemed to be: a 50,000-share bought block, comprised of 2 trades both of which went at 10 cents/share, through Canaccord that made up trades twelve and thirteen; a 250,000 share bought block comprised of trades sixteen through twenty, as bought through Scotia at prices of 10, 10, 10.5, 11 and 11 cents/share for each of those trades; a 40,000 share block, composed of trades 23 and 24 as bought through an anonymous financial institution at 10.5 cents/share; and, a 40,000 share block made up of trades 26 and 27, as bought through Canaccord at 10 cents/share. As was the case yesterday, large four-figure-valued trades have seemingly been put into Golden Hat over the last two days - in a few cases, five-figure-valued. The sell-side financial institutions, as was the case yesterday, didn't cluster in a similar unambiguous way beyond (in a few cases) 2-trade clusters, none of which summed up to more than five-figure volumes. This two-day pattern suggests that GHA.H shares are moving from the holders of relatively small positions to buyers of relatively large positions.

The price changes in GHA.H indicate such, although there is still some resistance to a clean break over 10 cents/share. As indicated above, the opening price of Golden Hat shares was 10 cents/share; it stayed at that price for 6 trades. The next five saw a dip to 9.5 cents/share, which went back to 10 cents/share by trade twelve. The next trade went at 10.5 cents/share, but this nudge above 10 cents/share didn't last: the next three went at 10 cents/share. The eighteenth, though, put the price at 10.5 cents/share again, and the following two went at 11 cents/share. This second attempt didn't last either; the next four trades went at 10 cents/share. The one after those four, the last trade of the day, went at 9.5 cents/share; its price equaled the day's low that was set by trades seven to eleven. So, Golden Hat closed at 9.5 cents/share, at its daily low, but nevertheless up 0.5 cents/share on the day. 176,000 shares, or $16,720 worth, traded at 9.5 cents/share; 439,000 shares, or $43,900 worth, traded at 10 cents/share; 160,000 shares, or $16,800 worth, traded at 10.5 cents/share; and, 94,000 shares, or $10,340 worth, traded at 11 cents/share.

Second-highest in number of trades on Friday was still-frequent-trader Trilogy Metals Inc. [NEX: TRI.H], with fourteen of them. The price action in Trilogy was relatively sedate, with the stock opening up unchanged at 90 cents/share. The next five, not including an odd-lot-sized trade of 300 shares at 87 cents/share, went at 92 cents/share; that odd-lotter was the third of the day. The rest of them, though, went at 90 cents/share. So, Trilogy closed at 90 cents/share, unchanged on the day, on daily volume of 40,300 shares - relatively light with respect to the rest of the week.

The top percentage gainer in Friday's trading was Global Tree Technologies Inc. [NEX: GTT.H], which closed at 2 cents/share for a gain of 0.5 cents/share, or 33.33%, on the day. A single trade, of 10,000 shares as of about 3:16 PM ET, set the closing price that put Global Tree at the top of this category.

The top percentage decliner for Friday was International Alliance Resources Inc. [NEX: ALL.H], which closed at 12 cents/share for a decline of 5.5 cents/share or 31.43%. There were only two trades of ALL.H, one of 11,000 shares at 15.5 cents/share and the other of 14,000 shares at 12 cents/share. Both were sold through Canaccord, and both went within seventy seconds of each other, suggesting that a sold block of 25,000 shares depressed the price. The first of the two trades went at about 3:56 PM ET.

Finally, here is the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], closed at 9.5 cents for a gain of 0.5 cents - 2.52% of total shares outstanding;
  2. BHR Buffalo Head Resources Ltd. [NEX: BHR.H], closed at 22 cents for a gain of 3 cents - 1.38% of TSO;
  3. Stone Mountains Holdings Inc. [NEX: SMO.H], closed at 2.5 cents for a loss of 0.5 cents - 0.716% of TSO;
  4. Electrohome Limited class 'Y' non-voting [NEX: ELL.K], closed at 15 cents unchanged - 0.451% of TSO;
  5. Monster Uranium Corp. [NEX: MU.H], closed at 50 cents for a gain of 6 cents - 0.443% of TSO;
  6. Electrohome Limited class 'X' voting [NEX: ELL.H], closed at 12 cents unchanged - 0.389% of TSO;

  9. Trilogy Metals Inc. [NEX: TRI.H], closed at 90 cents unchanged - 0.273% of TSO;
  10. Washmax Corp. [NEX: WMX.H], closed at 23 cents for a gain of 5.5 cents - 0.273% of TSO [slightly less than #9s, but equalized due to rounding off].

Highlighted NEX Stocks For November 1st

Thirty-three NEX stocks traded on Thursday. Of these, 13 advanced, 7 declined and 13 remained unchanged. There were 156 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], with 665,000 shares traded. This volume was almost four times the volume of the runner-up, Trilogy Metals Inc. [NEX: TRI.H]. According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Thursday was Trilogy, once again. Both Golden Hat and Trilogy traded more than ten times on Thursday, so their daily action is described below. Golden Hat placed first on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below; Trilogy placed third.

Three NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Thursday. The most numerous trader in terms of number of trades was the same as the raw-volume leader, Golden Hat; it traded 25 times. GHA.H leapt right out of the gate on Thursday, even though none of its trades were made within the first minute of trading. Despite the lack of a pre-open build-up, the first half-hour saw seventeen of its trades, comprising 500,000 shares' worth of volume, made. All of those trades, except for one, had five-figure volumes. As might be expected, there seemed to be at least six multi-trade blocks in the record, as they were clustered in terms of time and buy-side financial institution; the first five clusters were 100,000 shares each in totaled volume: a 100,000-share block composed of the first five trades, bought through Canaccord; another 100,000-share block composed of the sixth and seventh trades that was also bought through Canaccord; a 100,000-share block composed of trades eight through ten, bought through an anonymous financial institution; another 100,000-share block composed of trades eleven through fourteen, bought through Canaccord; and, yet another 100,000 share block, composed of trades fifteen though seventeen, that was bought through an anonymous financial institution. Later in the morning and early afternoon, 110,000 shares were bought through National Bank, as comprised of the nineteenth through the twenty-third trades. This last cluster on the buy side may not have been a single block because the last trade went two hours after the first. The last two of those five, though, went at the same time, suggesting a 50,000-share bought block. It's possible that the first three of those five were another 60,000 share block that took some time to execute. There were several presumed sell-side blocks, but they were composed of two trades and most of those doubles were of relatively little volume, except for one two-trade presumed block that was sold through E-Trade that totaled 100,000 shares.

The price action was consistent with a lot of buying pressure being visited upon Golden Hat. The first two trades went at Wednesday's closing price of 8.5 cents/share, which was the low of the day. By the third trade, the price was 9 cents/share; after a one-trade return to 8.5 cents/share, the sixth trade went at 9 cents/share. The seventh made the price 10 cents/share, where it stayed for the next seven trades. Three tests of the above-10-cent/share level were made in the next four trades, but 10 cents/share turned out to be the day's resistance level. The last eight trades were below 10 cents/share: except for the third- and second-last trade, they were at 9 cents/share, leaving Golden hat up 0.5 cents/share on the day. 58,000 shares, or $4,930 worth, traded at 8.5 cents/share; 235,000 shares, or $21,150 worth, traded at the closing price of 9 cents/share; 50,000 shares, or $4,750 worth, traded at 9.5 cents/share; 269,000 shares, or $26,900 worth, traded at 10 cents/share; and, 53,000 shares, or $5,565 worth, traded at 10.5 cents/share.

The second most numerous trader was Trilogy, with 16 trades on Thursday. The stock got off to a bullish start: the first three trades were above Wednesday's close of 90 cents/share - specifically, they went at 91, 92 and 92 cents/share respectively. All three of them, whose volumes totaled 10,000 shares, were bought through Union Securities. The next two trades saw a fallback in the price, and those included the largest-volume trade of the day. Both of these trades, of 10,000 shares at 90 cents/share and 125,000 shares at 88 cents/share, were sold through Blackmount; they both went at the same time of about 10:02 AM ET. This dump, though, failed to hold down the price. The next two trades went at 90 cents/share; the one after that, the eighth, went at 91 cents/share. The ninth and tenth went at 92 cents/share, equalling the day's high. Trades eight through ten, totaling 10,000 shares, had Blackmont as the buy-side financial institution. The last six trades, though, pushed the price back down. One of them, the second-last, was an odd-lot'er of 100 shares that went at 87 cents/share. The others went at 90 cents/share, Trilogy's closing price. The last five of the day were sold through Northern Securities, although only the first three of those, comprising 5,000 shares, seemed to be a single block. As noted just above, Trilogy closed at 90 cents/share, unchanged on the day, with daily volume of 169,100 shares.

The third most numerous trader on Thursday was a regular that hasn't been in this category for some time. Silvio Ventures Inc. [NEX: SIV.H] traded 13 times, and all except one were odd-lot-sized. As is usual for SIV.H, the price of the odd-lot'ers were significantly below the price of the board-lot'er: the first ten trades went at 51 cents/share. After the one board-lot-sized trade of 500 shares went at 56 cents/share, the next two odd-lot'ers went at 53 cents/share. Since only board-lot-sized trades are counted in the closes and changes, that eleventh trade set the closing price, and the gain of 1 cent/share. Silvio's daily volume was 2,260 shares.

The top percentage gainer in Thursday's trading was International CHS Resource Corporation [NEX: ICJ.H], which closed at 9 cents/share for a gain of 5.5 cents/share, or 157%, on the day. International CHS was the volume leader on Wednesday, and was third in terms of raw volume on Thursday. Eight trades in ICJ.H were made, with the first two, of 60,000 and 38,000 shares, going at the same time, 22 seconds after market's open. Both of them were made at 3.5 cents/share, and both were sold through an anonymous financial institution. The next two trades, of 10,000 shares each, also went at the same time, of about 10:37 AM ET. Both were bought through TD Securities; the first went at 5 cents/share and the second went at 5.5 cents/share. TD Securities was the sell-side institution for the fifth and sixth trades, of 9,000 and 5,000 shares; these went at the same time too: about 12:30 PM ET. Their prices were 5.5 cents/share and 6.5 cents/share respectively. The final two trades, of 5,000 and 1,000 shares, seemed to be independent of each other. The prices on both trades were equal to the closing price of 9 cents/share, set by the latter one. Thursday's daily volume of ICH.H was 138,000 shares, 42,000 less than Wednesday's 180,000. It placed fourth on the top-ten daily-turnover list, found just below.

The top percentage decliner for Thursday was New Meridian Mining Corp. [NEX: NWC.H], which closed at 30 cents/share for a decline of 7.5 cents/share or 20%. There were only three trades in NWC.H on Thursday, and two of them were odd-lot'ers. The board-lot'er, which set the closing price, was only one board lot in size. Total daily volume for New Meridian was 699 shares.

Finally, here is the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], closed at 9 cents for a gain of 0.5 cents - 1.93% of total shares outstanding;
  2. Rose Marie Resources Ltd. [NEX: RSR.H], closed at 9 cents for a loss of 1.5 cents - 1.92% of TSO;
  3. Trilogy Metals Inc. [NEX: TRI.H], closed at 90 cents unchanged - 1.14% of TSO;
  4. International CHS Resource Corporation [NEX: ICJ.H], closed at 9 cents for a gain of 5.5 cents - 0.935% of TSO;
  5. Becker Gold Mines Ltd. [NEX: BGD.H], closed at 30 cents for a gain of 14.5 cents - 0.726% of TSO;
  6. Electrohome Limited class 'Y' non-voting [NEX: ELL.K], closed at 15 cents unchanged - 0.683% of TSO;
  7. Cobre Exploration Corp. [NEX: CXV.H], closed at 12.5 cents for a loss of 2 cents - 0.549% of TSO;
  8. Datinvest International Ltd. [NEX: DAI.H], closed at 19 cents for a gain of 1 cent - 0.481% of TSO;
  9. ITI World Investment Group Inc. class 'A' [NEX: IWI.H], closed at 40 cents for a loss of 1 cent - 0.358% of TSO;
  10. Gold Star Resources Corp. [NEX: GXX.H], closed at 17 cents for a loss of 2 cents - 0.261% of TSO.

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 31st

Forty-two NEX stocks traded on Wednesday. Of these, 20 advanced, 12 declined and 10 remained unchanged. There were 184 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was International CHS Resource Corporation [NEX: ICJ.H], with 180,000 shares traded. Unusually, all four of ICJ.H's trades came at exactly the same time, at about 1:57 PM ET. They also had the same sell-side financial institution, Union Securities. So, and this is rather rare for a NEX stock in this slot, the top trader in terms of raw volume made the spot on only a single (presumed) sold block. There were no other trades in CHS on Wednesday. The third trade, of 98,000 shares, went at 3 cents/share; the others went at 3.5 cents/share. Since those others included the last one, ICJ.H closed at 3.5 cents/share, down 0.5 cents/share on the day.

According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Wednesday was the runner-up in terms of raw volume, Trilogy Metals Inc. [NEX: TRI.H], Trilogy traded more than ten times on Wednesday, so its daily action is described below. International CHS placed first on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below; Trilogy placed second. Wednesday was one of the few days when the ranking of the top two traders in terms of raw volume and daily turnover of free-trading shares was the same.

Two NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Wednesday. The most numerous trader in terms of number of trades, as it has been two days previous, was Trilogy Metals Inc. [NEX: TRI.H]. The number of trades in Trilogy was two more than it was on Tuesday: 35. It opened at 87 cents/share, and stayed there for two trades. Not counting an odd-lot-sized trade, the next eleven went at 88 cents/share. After a test of the 90 cent level that comprised four trades, one at 89 cents/share and the other three at 90 cents/share, Trilogy returned to 88 cents/share, where it stayed (except for another odd-lot'er) for the next eight trades. The twenty-eigth trade saw Trilogy's price return to 90 cents/share, where it stayed for the next five trades. After one at 91 cents/share, Trilogy's price returned to 90 cents/share for two more trades, where it closed for a gain of 3 cents/share from Tuesday's close. 500 shares, or $425 worth, went at 85 cents/share; 5000 shares, or $4,350 worth, went at 87 cents/share; 108,000 shares, or $95,040 worth, went at 88 cents/share; 5000 shares, or $4,450 worth, went at 89 cents/share; 29,000 shares, or $26,100 worth, went at 90 cents/share; and, 500 shares, or $455 worth, went at 91 cents/share. Total daily volume was 148,000 shares. As was the case on Tuesday and Monday, any multi-trade blocks in Trilogy's trade record on Wednesday were not that big relative to the size of the individual trades.

The second most numerous trader was Rocher Deboule, with 19 trades on Wednesday. The first trade in Rocher was at the same price as Tuesday's close, 50 cents/share. The next seven were at 52 cents/share. Interestingly, the second through fourth trades seemed to be composed of a 10,000 share sold block, with TD Securities being the sell-side financial institution. The last three of those seven, or the sixth through eighth trades, seemed to be a bought block of 20,000 shares that had Canaccord as the buy-side financial institution. The ninth trade, of 20,000 shares as of about 11:07 AM ET, went at 53 cents/share: the five subsequent, of 1,000, 5,000, 1,500, 2,000 and 500 shares, went at 51, 50, 50, 49 and 48.5 cents/share respectively: all of them were sold through the same financial institution that was on the sell side of the 53 cent'er: Canaccord. Seemingly, those six trades were part of a sold block of 30,000 shares, one which depressed the price of RD.H temporarily. After those trades went through, the price went back up above 50 cents/share: the last five trades of the day were all at the closing price of 51 cents/share. This close put Rocher up 1 cent/share from Tuesday's close, on daily volume of 80,000 shares.

The top percentage gainer in Wednesday's trading was Landmark Global Financial Corporation [NEX: LST.H], which closed at 5 cents/share for a gain of 2.5 cents/share, or 100%, on the day. One board lot of 3,000 shares put the price at this close; the other trade in LST.H was an odd-lot'er of 8 shares, at 1 cent/share. These two, put together, total to Landmark's daily volume of 3,008 shares. The closing price was a cent below the 52-week high, and 3.5 cents above the 52-week low.

The top percentage decliner for Wednesday was Specialty Foods Group Income Fund [NEX: HAM.UN.H], which closed at 1 cent/share for a decline of 1 cent/share or 50%. There were five trades in HAM.UN.H on Wednesday; all but the last were at 1.5 cents/share. That last one, of 1,000 shares, established the closing price. There seemed to be two sold blocks amongst those five trades: a 40,000 share block, composing the first three trades, which went through Canaccord on the sell side, and a 2,000 share block, composing the last two trades, that went through TD Securities. The third and fourth trades seemed to compose a 10,000 share bought block that went through BMO Nesbitt. HAM.UN.H's total daily volume was 42,000 shares.

Finally, here is the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. International CHS Resource Corporation [NEX: ICJ.H], closed at 3.5 cents for a loss of 0.5 cents - 1.22% of total shares outstanding;
  2. Trilogy Metals Inc. [NEX: TRI.H], closed at 90 cents for a gain of 3 cents - 1.00% of TSO;
  3. Waveform.com Inc. [NEX: WAF.H], closed at 22 cents for a gain of 5 cents - 0.429% of TSO;
  4. Focus Ventures Ltd. [NEX: FCV.H], closed at 36 cents for a gain of 0.5 cents - 0.396% of TSO;
  5. Lomiko Resources Inc. [NEX: LMR.H], closed at 38 cents for a gain of 1 cent - 0.260% of TSO;
  6. Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H], closed at 51 cents for a gain of 1 cent - 0.252% of TSO;
  7. Avigo Resources Corp. [NEX: TMX.H], closed at 60 cents unchanged - 0.233% of TSO;
  8. ITI World Investment Group Inc. class 'A' [NEX: IWI.H], closed at 41 cents for a gain of 0.5 cents - 0.227% of TSO;
  9. Specialty Foods Group Income Fund [NEX: HAM.UN.H], closed at 1 cent for a loss of 1 cent - 0.209% of TSO;
  10. Datinvest International Ltd. [NEX: DAI.H], closed at 18 cents for a loss of 2 cents - 0.202% of TSO.

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 30th

[Correction Notice: In the original version of this report, there was a "Monday" when there should have been a "Tuesday." Apologies to anyone who was misled.]

Thirty-four NEX stocks traded on Tuesday. Of these, 7 advanced, 9 declined and 18 remained unchanged. There were 143 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was The Silver Recycling Company Inc. [NEX: TSR.H], with 280,000 shares traded; Biomerge Industries [NEX: BIL.H] was a close runner-up. There were only four trades in TSR.H, but one of them was a real whopper: the third trade, of 270,000 shares at 40 cents/share, which went at about 12:48 PM ET. The sell-side financial institution was an anonymous one, the same classification as the financial institution(s) for the first two trades of 3,000 and 5,000 shares. Those first two trades went at a price equal to the previous closing price, set last Thursday, of 44 cents/share. That third trade put TSR.H down 4 cents/share, while the fourth and last trade of 2,000 shares went at 37 cents/share, which put the stock down seven cents on the day. That last trade was sold through Scotia and bought through an anonymous financial institution.

According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Tuesday was Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H], with Silver Recycling placing a close second. Rocher Deboule traded more than ten times on Tuesday, so its daily action is described below. Silver Recycling placed first on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below, and Biomerge placed tenth; Rocher placed fifth.

Four NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Tuesday. The most numerous trader in terms of number of trades was the same as Monday's: Trilogy Metals Inc. [NEX: TRI.H]. The action was much quieter for Trilogy than it was on Monday: 33 trades of TRI.H were made on Tuesday. The price range was also much narrower than Monday's: the lowest-valued trade was made at 83 cents/share and the highest was made at 87 cents/share. Starting with the eighth trade, made at about 9:42 AM ET, the price of Trilogy settled into a range, between 85 and 87 cents/share, which implies that a temporary equilibrium value has been found for the stock. Its close of 87 cents/share, which put it up 4 cents/share on the day, was made on daily volume of 121,300 shares. 14,000 shares, or $11,620 worth, traded at 83 cents/share; 5,000 shares, or $4,200 worth, traded at 84 cents/share; 15,000 shares, or $12,750 worth, traded at 85 cents/share; 7,000 shares, or $6,020 worth, traded at 86 cents/share; 80,300 shares, or $69,861 worth, traded at 87 cents/share.

The second-most-numerous was Rocher Deboule, with 19 trades on Tuesday. After an opening trade which put the price of RD.H one cent/share above Monday's close, the price moved up relatively swiftly: by about 10:25 AM ET, it had touched 50 cents/share thanks to two presumed bought blocks, of 30,000 and 20,000 shares bought through Canaccord and TD Securities respectively, which went at about 9:37 and 10:24 AM ET respectively. Both were made up of three trades each, and each triplet went at exactly the same time. The price of Rocher's shares sunk down to 48.5 cents/share in the middle of the day's trading, but went back up to 50 cents/share four minutes after 2 PM ET. The third-last trade, of 10,000 shares made as of about 3:17 PM ET, went at a price above 50 cents/share: 52 cents/share, to be exact. The final two trades, both sold and bought through Canaccord, went at the closing price of 50 cents/share. Those two trades, which went at exactly the same time, had a combined volume of 100,000 shares. RD.H closed at that same 50 cents/share, up 4 cents/share since Monday's close, on daily volume of 232,000 shares.

The third most numerous was Biomerge Industries Ltd. [NEX: BIL.H], with 17 trades. All but the last six of them seemed to be part of three bought blocks, of 6,000, 200,000 and 45,000 shares as of 9:30, 9:48 and 10:28 AM ET respectively, which composed two, seven and two trades respectively. Except for the first two, all of these trades went at 2 cents/share. The next two trades also went at 2 cents/share, but the next three put the price down to 1.5 cents/share. Since the last trade of the day was odd-lot size, of 913 shares at 0.5 cents/share, the closing price of 1.5 cents/share was set by the second-last one. Biomerge closed unchanged on the day.

The fourth and final NEX stock to trade more than ten times on Tuesday was Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], with 11 trades. The first three of them were all sold through RBC at the same time; they comprised 37,000 shares of GHA.H. All of those shares went at 7.5 cents/share. The next three trade, of 2,000, 6,000 and 5,000 shares respectively, were bought through BMO Nesbitt at exactly the same time, about 12:49 PM ET. They all went at 8 cents/share. The next two trades seemed to compose a sold block of 35,000 shares. Interestingly, these two trades were at the day's high of 8.5 cents/share, even though they were bought through two different financial institutions. The third-last trade of 3,000 shares was also at 8.5 cents/share, but the last two went at lower prices: 7.5 and 8 cents/share respectively in order of dissemination. Both of them had volumes of 1,000 shares each, both went at exactly the same time of about 3:41 PM ET, and both of them were sold through Blackmont. Golden Hat closed at that same 8 cents/share, unchanged from Monday's close on daily volume of 90,000 shares.

The top percentage gainer in Tuesday's trading was Avigo Resources Corp. [NEX: TMX.H], which closed at 60 cents/share for a gain of 10 cents/share, or 20%, on the day. There were nine trades in Avigo, and the stock was up quite a bit from the first trade. The first five of those trades were bought through Canaccord, although they seemed to have been composed of two bought blocks and one single trade due to them going at different times. The first and the last of those five went at 47 cents/share, and the middle three went at 48 cents/share. The next two, of 3,500 and 45,000 shares respectively, went at the same time of 2:49 PM ET and were bought through an anonymous financial institution. The last two trades, of 5,000 shares volumes each, were also made at the same time and were bought through Global Securities. They both went at 60 cents/share, and the last of those two set the closing price. Daily volume in TMX.H was 77,000 shares.

The top percentage decliner for Tuesday was Magnate Ventures Inc. [NEX: MGV.H], which closed at 25.5 cents/share for a decline of 9.5 cents/share or 27.14%. Two trades, both going at the same time and at the same price, put Magante at its closing price. Those trades were for 4,000 and 1,000 shares respectively, totaling to the daily volume of 5,000 shares; both went at 2:59 PM ET and both were sold through National Bank.

Finally, here is the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. The Silver Recycling Company Inc. [NEX: TSR.H], closed at 37 cents for a loss of 7 cents - 2.88% of total shares outstanding;

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 29th

Twenty-six NEX stocks traded on Monday. Of these, 10 advanced, 4 declined and 12 remained unchanged. Despite the relative paucity of issues traded, the number of trades was unusually large: 177 of them. The reason for the disjoint is explained by the trading activity of the top trader in terms of raw volume: Trilogy Metals Inc. [NEX: TRI.H], with 753,265 shares traded. According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Monday was also Trilogy Metals. It was also first in terms of the number of shares traded, tops in the percent advancer, and first on the top ten daily-turnover list, found at the bottom. Trilogy was also far in first for each category. It was the first NEX stock in months to trade a solid six figures' worth of shares in the trading day - to be more specific, more than half a million dollars' worth. Quite evidently it was the stock of the day - and it accomplished all this in four hours' worth of trading, as it was subject to a trading halt as of the start of Monday's trading. There was only one news item to account for this explosion, and it was summarized in Friday's News Releases From NEX Companies (fourth paragraph): Trilogy has agreed to purchase all the shares of NWest Energy Inc. [The full news release that explains the deal, and its ramificiations, is here.] As is often the case, the chart of Trilogy gave little or no warning that such an explosion was about to come, except perhaps for a too-quiet lull in the change of its price before Monday's rocket-up.

Three NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Monday. As explained above, the issue that traded the most numerously, by far, was Trilogy Metals, with 81 trades during the time it wasn't halted. There were four trades waiting right at the dot of noon ET when the trading halt was lifted. Those four all went at 71 cents/share, making Trilogy a 29 cent/share gainer on the day right at the start of its trading. The fifth trade also went at 71 cents/share, but the sixth went at 70 cents/share. The next three trades went at 65 cents/share. In order to get a sense of how quickly Trilogy started trading, the last of those 65 cent'ers went as of 12:01:51 PM ET, or fewer than two minutes after the halt was lifted. That last 65 cent'er was the ninth trade of the day.

The next six went for 66 cents/share, with the last of those, the fifteenth, going at 12:03:53. The volume of that single trade was close to 150,000; the total volume of all fifteen trades, all of which went within four minutes of each other, was 291,000 shares.

The sixteenth and seventeenth went for 70 and 71 cents/share respectively, while the next two went at 67 cents/share. The two after that went at 66 cents/share, but the price of TRI.H recovered above 70 cents/share, to stay, as of about 12:05:20 PM ET. The next six trades, all occurring within twenty seconds of each other, all went at 70 cents/share. The one after that, the twenty-eighth, went at 75 cents/share. After the twenty-eighth, which went ten seconds after 12:07 PM ET, the price of Trilogy never went below the opening price of 71 cents/share again.

[This reminds me of an old trader's joke. ABC has gone through the roof, and a trader was asking a broker if she was going to shoot any orders for ABC over his way. She shook her head, explaining that she was waiting for the secondary reaction. "Oh, you want the secondary reaction?" the trader asked. After getting a confirmatory nod from the broker, he went through the papers on his messy desk, pulled out a sheet of paper, circled some of the numbers on the sheet, and handed it over to her.

"Here, you've got the secondary reaction you're looking for. Took place between 10 and 10:05 this morning."]

After retracting slightly to 74 cents/share, Trilogy had gotten back up to 75 cents/share on the thirtieth trade of the day. 80 cents/share was reached on a board-lot-sized trade as of 12:10:18 AM ET, on the thirty-eighth trade. After reaching that level, the surge basically stopped, although trading continued with enthusiasm up until 1:50 PM ET. In that time period, the price of TRI.H hovered between 78 and 85 cents/share. By the time 2 PM ET rolled around, seventy-two trades in Trilogy had been made; there were only to be nine more during the rest of the trading day. Of all the 81 trades, two were odd-lot-sized. The first went at 12:09:12 PM ET at 82 cents/share. The second, which was also the last trade of the day, went at 3:58:08 PM ET at 88 cents/share, the highest price for TRI.H if odd lots are counted as well as board lots. Trilogy closed at 83 cents/share, up 41 cents/share on the day. For an overall perspective on how Trilogy traded Monday, here's a quick table showing price traded, share volume and value of shares at that price with colon and semicolon separators:

-65 cents: 20,000 shares; $13,000 worth
-66 cents: 329,000 shares; $217,140 worth
-67 cents: 35,000 shares; $23,450 worth
-70 cents: 68,000 shares; $47,600 worth
-71 cents: 34,000 shares; $24,140 worth
-74 cents: 5,000 shares; $3,700 worth
-75 cents: 20,000 shares; $15,000 worth
-76 cents: 4,500 shares; $3,420 worth
-78 cents: 5,000 shares: $3,900 worth
-79 cents: 7,000 shares; $5,530 worth
-80 cents: 120,000 shares; $96,000 worth
-81 cents: 42,000 shares;$ 34,020 worth
-82 cents: 8,750 shares; $7,175 worth
-83 cents: 30,000 shares; $24,900 worth [Closing price.]
-84 cents: 1,000 shares; $840 worth
-85 cents: 24,000 shares; $20400 worth
-88 cents: 115 shares; $101.20 worth.

As noted above, there were two other NEX stocks that traded more than 10 times on Monday, overshadowed though they were by Trilogy. Second-most numerous in terms of number of trades was Rocher Deboule, with a relatively sparse 13 trades on the day. The first five board lots went at 46 cents/share, with an odd lot (the second trade of the day) of 449 shares going at 44 cents/share between them. The last four of those five board-lot-sized traded, of 5,000, 4,000, 10,000 and 6,000 shares respectively, were bought through Canaccord and seemed to be a bought block of 25,000 shares. The seventh trade of the day, of 5,000 shares as of about 1:35 PM ET, went at 46.5 cents/share; the four following it pushed the price up to 47 cents/share through the first two and 48 cents/share through the last two. Of those four, the last three were bought through E-Trade, suggesting a bought block composed of the 2,500 shares their volumes summed up to. The last two trades, of 4,000 and 1,000 shares, were also bought through Canaccord, at the same price as those four which were too. They brought Rocher to its closing price of 46 cents/share, leaving RD.H unchanged since last Friday's close on daily volume of 41,449 shares.

The final stock to trade more than 10 times on Monday was Moneta Resources Inc. [NEX: MOT.H], with 11 trades. There seemed to be three sold blocks, of 549, 15,000 and 37,000 shares, comprising the first two, the third and fourth, and the last seven trades, as sold through National Bank, Desjardins and an anonymous institution respectively. Despite the preponderance of presumed blocks on the sell side, especially the 37,000-share one, the price of Moneta crept up during the day before a 4 cent/share leap on the last trade of 2,000 shares. There also seemed to be two bought blocks, comprising the fourth through seventh and ninth through tenth trades, of 23,000 and 10,000 shares respectively, which may explain the buying pressure that overweighed any selling pressure by the presumed sold blocks. The last trade of 2,000 shares was bought through the same institution that was the buy-side financial institution for the 23,000-share trade cluster: Canaccord. So, it is possible that this last trade completed a bought block of 25,000 shares. The 10,000 shares mentioned above were bought through TD Securities. Moneta closed at 21 cents/share, up 5 cents/share since its last close on last Tuesday, on 52,549 shares daily volume.

The top percentage gainer in Monday's trading was the oft-mentioned-above Trilogy Metals, which closed at 83 cents/share for a gain of 41 cents/share, or 96.72%, on the day. The top percentage decliner for Monday was Arcland Resources Inc. [NEX: ADR.H], which closed at 22.5 cents/share for a decline of 7.5 cents/share or 25%. One board-lot-sized trade in Arcland did it: 500 shares at the closing price. The other trade was odd-lot-sized and went at 20.5 cents/share. Both trades went as of the same time, about 10:57 AM ET, and both were sold through E-Trade, suggesting a sold block pushed the price down in a thin market for ADR.H. Those two trades combined made up the daily volume of 566 shares in Arcland.

Finally, here is the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. Trilogy Metals Inc. [NEX: TRI.H], closed at 83 cents for a gain of 41 cents - 15.4% of total shares outstanding;
  2. International LMM Ventures Corp. [NEX: LMM.H], closed at 50 cents for a gain of 4.5 cents - 0.467% of TSO;

  8. Global Tree Technologies Inc. [NEX: GTT.H], closed at 2 cents for a gain of 0.5 cents - 0.105% of TSO;

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 26th

Thirty-four NEX stocks traded on Friday. Of these, 7 advanced, 7 declined and 19 remained unchanged. There were 104 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], with 172,000 shares traded. Golden Hat traded eight times on Friday: seven of those went at 7.5 cents/share and one, the second, went at 7 cents/share. That trade was for 2,000 shares. There seemed to be one bought block, comprising the third through sixth trades, of 70,000 shares of GHA.H and two sold blocks of 7,000 and 100,000 shares: those comprised the first two and the last three trades respectively. Golden Hat closed at 7.5 cents/share, unchanged since Thursday's close.

According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Friday was Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H]. All four trades in RD.H went at the same price, 46 cents/share: the volumes of them were 10,000, 20,000, 10,000 and 10,000 shares. They all had the same buy-side financial institution, Canaccord, and may have formed a 50,000-share bought block, although the time between each trade indicates that they were not. The last two trades, made at exactly the same time, both had TD Securities as the sell-side financial institution and may have been a sold block of 20,000 shares that was called forth by the day's demand. Golden Hat placed fourth on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below; Rocher placed tenth.

One NEX stock traded more than ten times on Friday. It was an issue that's usually found in this category: Silvio Ventures Inc. [NEX: SIV.H], with thirteen trades. As is also usual for Silvio, the large majority of its trades were odd-lot-sized - for Friday, all but one. The only board-lot-sized trade, the fourth of the day, went at 55 cents/share. The others went for 52 cents/share: they were all bought through PI Financial. That single board-lot'er set the closing price for SIV.H, putting it down 2 cents/share with respect to Thursday's close. Daily volume was 2,513 shares.

The top percentage gainer in Friday's trading was Magnate Ventures Inc. [NEX: MGV.H], which closed at 35 cents/share for a gain of 9.5 cents/share, or 37.26%, on the day. There were six trades in Magnate, with prices ascending from 25 cents/share to the day's close of 35 cents/share. No trades were below the previous trade's price, except for the first one which was 0.5 cents/share below the previous close as set on October 22nd. Four out of the other five trades were at prices higher than the previous one. Interestingly enough, there seemed to be only one bought block of 3,000 shares, comprising the second and third trades. Those trades, of 500 and 2,500 shares, went for 27 cents/share and 28.5 cents/share respectively. The last three trades, of 3,500, 15,000 and 2,500 shares at 28.5, 30 and 35 cents/share respectively, were definitely independent of each other. The first three trades were made in the morning, and the rest went during the afternoon. The last one, which set the closing price, went as of 3:35 PM ET - more than three hours after the fifth one went. Total daily volume for MGV.H was 24,500 shares. Magnate took first place in the top-ten daily-turnover list, found just below.

The top percentage decliner for Friday was Mazarin Inc. [NEX: MAZ.H], which closed at 6 cents/share for a decline of 1 cent/share or 14.29%. There were nine trades in MAZ.H, three of which were odd-lot-sized; all three of those went at 4 cents/share. Of the six remaining board-lot-sized trades, four went for 6 cents/share and two went for 7 cents/share. Those two, though, were the largest-volume trades: 30,000 and 20,000 shares, as of 12:01 and 12:33 PM ET respectively. They seemed to have formed a 50,000 share bought block. On the sell side, there were no discernable blocks. Total daily volume for MAZ.H was 56,450 shares. As noted above, 50,000 of them went at 7 cents/share. 5,000 shares went at the closing price of 6 cents/share, and the remaining 1,450 shares, as also noted above, went at 4 cents/share.

Here is the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. Magnate Ventures Inc. [NEX: MGV.H], closed at 35 cents for a gain of 9.5 cents - 1.13% of total shares outstanding;
  2. Rose Marie Resources Ltd. [NEX: RSR.H], closed at 9.5 cents for a loss of 0.5 cents - 0.717% of TSO;

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 25th

Twenty-eight NEX stocks traded on Thursday. Of these, 9 advanced, 6 declined and 13 remained unchanged. There were 110 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H], with 202,060 shares traded. Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H] was the runner-up, with 164,000 shares traded. According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Thursday was also Rocher Deboule, which was also tops in number of trades. Rocher placed third on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below; Golden Hat placed fourth.

Two NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Thursday. First with respect to numerousness of trades was Rocher Deboule, which traded 25 times. The first trade put Rocher at a slight loss, which was erased within five minutes of market's open. After an odd-lot trade of 108 shares that went at 41 cents/share, the next nine trades went at 44 cents/share; these put RD.H back at unchanged. All of those eleven trades were made between 9:30 and 10 AM ET. Almost at the latter time, a trade of 17,500 shares went at 43 cents/share, followed by two of 1,000 and 4,000 shares which went at 42.5 cents/share. The 43 cent/share level was regained by 10:04 AM ET and was held to for the next seven trades. At about 3:44 PM ET, the price went up to 43.5 cents/share with a trade of 15,000 shares. The last two trades of the day, of 18,500 and 10,000 shares each, went at 44 cents/share, enough of a gain to leave Rocher unchanged on the day. Although there seemed to be several bought and sold blocks, the record was sufficiently blurred to be undefinitive. [Several hundred thousand shares of Rocher came out of escrow on Thursday, but there was no definite block dump in the record. It's possible that the relatively huge volume traded had a released-for-trading share dump as a partial cause, but those previously-escrowed shares would have had to have been widely held for this to be the reason.] 560 shares of Rocher, or $229.60 worth, went at 41 cents/share; 5,000 shares, or $2,125 worth, went at 42.5 cents/share; 115,000 shares, or $49,450 worth, went at 43 cents/share; 15,000 shares, or $6,525 worth, went at 43.5 cents/share; and, 66,500 shares, or $29,260 worth, went at 44 cents/share.

The second-most numerous trader in terms of number of trades was category regular Silvio Ventures Inc. [NEX: SIV.H], with 11 trades on Thursday. Unusually for Silvio, almost half of those trades were board-lot-sized. The first three of the six odd-lot-sized trades went at 52 cents/share, and the other three went at 53 cents/share; all of them were bought through PI Financial. The five board-lot-sized trades, of 500, 4,500, 500, 2,000 and 1,000 shares, went at prices ranging from 55 to 57 cents/share. The first three went at 55 cents, the fourth went at 56 and the fifth went at 57 cents/share; it established Silvio's closing price. This left SIV.H with a gain of 3 cents/share since Wednesday's close, on daily volume of 9,324 shares.

The top percentage gainer in Thursday's trading was Fairchild Investments Ltd. [NEX: FIC.H], which closed at 5 cents/share for a gain of 3 cents/share, or 150%, on the day. This close meant a near-recovery in the price of Fairchild from its Tuesday spill. Three trades, of 23,000, 1,000 and 1,000 shares, put the price up. All of them were bought through CIBC, suggesting a bought block equal to the daily volume of 25,000 shares. The first trade went at 4.5 cents/share, and the other two went at the closing price of 5 cents/share.

The top percentage decliner for Thursday was Biomerge Industries Ltd. [NEX: BIL.H], which closed at 1.5 cents/share for a decline of 0.5 cents/share or 25%. There were six trades in Biomerge, although only four of them were of board-lot size. Of those four, the first three, of 7,000, 5,000 and 14,000 shares, went at 2 cents/share. The last board-lot'er of 3,000 shares put BIL.H at the closing price. The two odd-lot'ers both went at 0.5 cents/share.

Finally, the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. Datinvest International Ltd. [NEX: DAI.H], closed at 20 cents unchanged - 1.10% of total shares outstanding;
  2. Avigo Resources Corp. [NEX: TMX.H], closed at 53 cents for a gain of 3 cents - 0.802% of TSO;
  3. Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H], closed at 43 cents unchanged - 0.795% of TSO;
  4. Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], closed at 7.5 cents unchanged - 0.475% of TSO;
  5. Galleria Opportunities Inc. [NEX: GOI.H], closed at 19.5 cents for a loss of 0.5 cents - 0.318% of TSO;
  6. ITI World Investment Group Inc. class 'A' [NEX: IWI.H], closed at 43 cents for a gain of 0.5 cents - 0.275% of TSO;

  9. Toba Industries Ltd. [NEX: TBG.H], closed at 15 cents for a loss of 1.5 cents - 0.203% of TSO;

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 24th

Thirty-one NEX stocks traded on Wednesday. Of these, 9 advanced, 7 declined and 15 remained unchanged. There were 116 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was Biomerge Industries Ltd. [NEX: BIL.H], with 182,500 shares traded. Biomerge was also tied for the most numerous trader, as elaborated upon below.

According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Wednesday was infrequently-traded X-Tal Minerals Corp. [NEX: XMT.H]. There were six trades in X-Tal on Wednesday, which seemed to form two sold blocks, of 38,500 and 20,000 shares respectively, made up of three trades each. The first two trades, of 33,000 and 4,500 shares each, went at 60 cents/share: they were made as of about 10:59 AM ET and 11:00 AM ET. The next one went at about 1:08 PM ET, and the last three went at about 1:09 PM ET. The third trade, of 1,000 shares, went at 55 cents/share, as did the fourth, of 9,000 shares. The last two, of 9,000 and 2,000 shares, went at 53 cents/share, XMT.H's closing price. It equaled X-Tal's 52-week low, on day's volume of 58,500 shares. Biomerge didn't place on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below; X-Tal placed second.

Three NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Wednesday, with a two-way tie for the most numerous trader in terms of number of trades. The first was Biomerge, with 16 trades. The first two trades, of 1,000 and 14,000 shares each, went at 1.5 cents/share which put BIL.H down 0.5 cents/share: unusually, those two seemed to have been the components of a bought block of 15,000 shares. The next two went at 2 cents/share, and the following trade went at 2.5 cents/share. After a return to 2 cents/share for one trade, two of them went at 2.5 cents/share. Both of those trades, of 30,000 and 10,000 share volumes, were independent of each other. The other trades of board-lot size went for 2 cents/share. The thirteenth and fourteenth trades were odd-lot-sized, and went for 0.5 cents/share.

The second NEX stock to trade 16 times on Wednesday is a familiar name in this category, Silvio Ventures [NEX: SIV.H]. Fourteen of those trades were odd-lot'ers, and all but one were bought through PI Financial. The one that wasn't, of 180 shares, went at 63 cents/share. The other thirteen went at prices ranging from 50 to 52 cents/share. Only the first odd-lot'er went at the 50 cents/share price; the five next odd-lot'ers went at 51 cents/share and the seven other odd-lot'ers went at 52 cents/share. The first board-lot-sized trade went at 53 cents/share, and the second went at 54 cents/share. This latter board-lot'er left SIV.H up 1 cent/share at the end of the day's trading, on total daily volume of 4,734 shares.

The third stock to trade more than ten times was Toba Industries Ltd. [NEX: TBG.H], which traded 12 times on Wednesday. The first three trades, of 10,000, 5,000 and 10,000 shares each, went at 16 cents/share. The next trade, of 30,000 shares, touched on the low of the day, also equal to Tuesday's close: 15.5 cents/share. Two more were made at that price, the eighth and the ninth, of 7,000 and 30,500 shares. In between those three were three trades that went at 16 cents/share too, as did the tenth: those were 10,000, 5,500, 3,500 and 500 shares in volume respectively. The last two trades of the day were at the day's high of 16.5 cents/share: they had volumes of 6,500 and 5,000 shares each. TBG.H closed at that same 16.5 cents/share, for a gain of 1 cent/share, on daily volume of 123,500 shares. This volume amount made Toba the runner-up in terms of raw volume; it placed ninth on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below.

The top percentage gainer in Wednesday's trading was Specialty Foods Group Income Fund [NEX: HAM.UN.H], which closed at 2 cents/share for a gain of 0.5 cents/share, or 33.33%, on the day. Although there were three trades in HAM.UN.H, only one of them was board-lot sized: it was for 1,000 shares at the closing price of 2 cents/share. The others were odd-lot-sized, of 500 shares each; both went at 0.5 cents/share. Total daily volume was 2,000 shares.

The top percentage decliner for Wednesday was Global Tree Technologies Inc. [NEX: GTT.H], which closed at 1.5 cents/share for a decline of 0.5 cents/share or 25%. The first two trades, of 3,000 and 7,000 shares, went for 2 cents/share, while the third and last board-lot-sized trade of 4,000 shares went at the closing price. There was a fourth trade, of 500 shares, which went at 0.5 cents/share. Because it was odd-lot-sized, it didn't affect the closing price even though it was the last one in GTT.H for the day. Total daily volume was 14,500 shares.

Finally, the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. New Meridian Mining Corp. [NEX: NWC.H], closed at 35 cents for a gain of 5 cents - 1.36% of total shares outstanding;

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 23rd

Thirty-one NEX stocks traded on Tuesday. Of these, 11 advanced, 7 declined and 13 remained unchanged. There were 137 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume, by far, was Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], with 705,000 shares traded. According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Tuesday was also Golden Hat, which also traded the most times during that day. It also placed a clear first on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below, making it the "stock of the day" on the NEX Board.

Two NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Tuesday, with the above-mentioned Golden Hat being the most numerous trader with 28 trades. The first two trades went at the previous closing price of 6.5 cents/share, which proved to be the low of the day. The next three went for 7 cents/share, and were followed by thirteen trades which all went for 7.5 cents/share. The five subsequent went for 8 cent/share, the day's high, which was followed by one trade at 7.5 cents/share. Three then went for 7 cents/share, and the last trade of the day went for the closing price of 7.5 cents/share. There seemed to be five bought blocks, comprising 300,000, 78,000, 115,000, 20,000 and 37,000 shares in seven, four, six, two and two trades respectively, as well as several sold blocks. A total of 50,000 shares or $3,250 worth went at 6.5 cents/share, 167,000 or $11,690 worth went at 7 cents/share, 423,000 shares or $31,725 worth went at 7.5 cents/share, and 65,000 or $5,200 worth of shares went at 8 cents/share. As mentioned above, GHA.H closed at 7.5 cents/share, for a gain of 1 cent/share since Monday's close.

The second-most numerous trader was the category usual, which fell short on Monday but returned on Tuesday: Silvio Ventures Inc. [NEX: SIV.H], with 25 trades. All but two of them were odd-lot-sized, and all twenty-three of those were bought through PI Financial. PI was also the sell-side institution for one of the two board-lot-sized trades, of 3,500 shares at about 2:12 PM ET. Unusually, there was a change in the price of the odd-lot'ers: the first twelve went for 49 cents/share and the others went for 50 cents/share. The three board-lot'ers all went for 53 cents/share, leaving SIV.H up 3 cents/share from the previous close on 10,968 shares' daily volume. Silvio placed seventh on the top-ten list by daily turnover of free-trading shares, found below.

There was a two-way tie for the top percentage gainer in Tuesday's trading; both of the ones that gained 33.33% on the day were the same issues that were Monday's top decliners. The first one was Biomerge Industries Ltd. [NEX: BIL.H], which closed at 2 cents/share for a gain of 0.5 cents/share on the day. The second was Global Tree Technologies Inc. [NEX: GTT.H], which also closed at 2 cents/share for a gain of 0.5 cents/share on the day. Biomerge traded seven times, with a total daily volume of 11,050 shares. Three of those trades were odd-lot'ers, which went at 0.5 cents/share. The first three of the four board lot'ers, of 1,000, 1,000 and 2,000 shares each, went at 1.5 cents/share, and the final one of 6,000 shares went at the closing price of 2 cents/share. The volumes of Global Tree traded on Tuesday was much greater than Biomerge's - 50,600 shares - even though there were fewer trades. Only one of GTT.H's five trades was odd-lot-sized. Three of the four board-lot'ers, of 20,000, 13,000 and 10,000 shares each, went at 1.5 cents/share. The last one, of 7,000 shares, went at the closing price of 2 cents/share, making for a similarity with Biomerge. Those two closes left the two issues at the same price that they were as of last Friday's close.

The top percentage decliner for Tuesday was 222 Pizza Express Corp. [NEX: PIZ.H], which closed at 0.5 cents/share for a decline of 1.5 cents/share or 75%. One trade, of 3,000 shares at about 1:41 PM ET, put 222 Pizza in this category.

Finally, the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):

  1. Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], closed at 7.5 cents for a gain of 1 cent - 2.04% of total shares outstanding;

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 22nd

[Correction Notice: An incorrect link was put in the earlier version of this post, which has now been changed to the correct page. Apologies to anyone that was inconvenienced.]

Thirty-seven NEX stocks traded on Monday. Of these, 9 advanced, 10 declined and 18 remained unchanged. There were 109 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was Biomerge Industries Ltd. [NEX: BIL.H], with 135,300 shares traded. Datinvest International Ltd. [NEX: DAI.H] was a close runner-up, with 121,000 shares traded. Unusually, Biomerge was first in number of trades for Monday and Datavest was second. The latter closed at 20 cents/share, down 6 cents/share from its previous close. The ten trades in DAI.H seemed to have been composed of two sold blocks. The former, of six trades of 71,000 shares total, had trades that were all sold through an anonymous financial institution. The latter, of four trades summing up to 50,000 shares, were all sold through Penson. As of the sixth trade, the price of Datavest shares was 21 cents/share; the last four trades went for 20.5, 20, 20 and 20 cents/share respectively. The first trade went for the day's high of 23.5 cents/share. Since Biomerge traded more than ten times on Monday, it is elaborated upon in the paragraph after the next.

According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Monday was Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H], as it was last Friday. Of the eight trades in RD.H on Monday, there seemed to be two sold blocks of 3 trades each, one of 25,000 shares total that were sold through Canaccord and another of 30,000 shares total that were sold through TD Securities. Each three-share tranche ended up pushing the price of RD.H down 0.5 cents from first trade to third. Between the two was an odd-lot trade of 300 shares at 43 cents/share, and before both was a 2,000-share trade at 45.5 cents/share. That trade and the three next were bought through BMO Nesbitt, although the trade data (including the total volume of 27,000 shares for all four) merely indicates a possible single bought block. Rocher closed at 44.5 cents/share, down 3 cents/share since Friday's close. Biomerge didn't place on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below, and Datinvest placed first; Rocher placed seventh.

Only one NEX stock traded more than ten times on Monday, the above-mentioned Biomerge with fourteen trades. The first three went at 1.5 cents/share, but the price was pushed up to 2.5 cents/share by the fifth, only to fall back to 2 cents/share at the sixth. The next three board-lot-sized trades also went at 2 cents/share, and the last three went at 1.5 cents/share. There seemed to be a bought block composed of the first three trades. All were made at the same time, right after market's open, and were all bought through TD Securities: those three trades totaled 6,000 shares. Another presumed block was much larger, a sold one of 25,000 shares. The three trades in that cluster all went at about 2:22 PM ET; all were sold through Scotia. BIL.H closed at 1.5 cents/share, leaving it down 0.5 cents/share with respect to last Friday's close.

The top percentage gainer in Monday's trading was The Silver Recycling Company Inc. [NEX: TSR.H], which closed at 44 cents/share for a gain of 12.5 cents/share, or 39.68%, on the day. Three trades, of 2,000 shares at 42 cents/share, 2,000 shares at 45.5 cents/share and 1,000 shares at the closing price of 44 cents/share, put TSR.H in the top spot for percentage gain. The first two trades went within three minutes of each other, at about 10:50 and 10:52 AM ET respectively; both were bought through E-Trade. The last trade went at about 2:35 PM ET: it and the second were both sold through an anonymous financial institution. Daily volume in TSR.H totalled 5,000 shares.

There was a two-way tie for the top percentage decliner for Monday, both with declines of 25%. The first was the above-mentioned Biomerge, which ended the day at 1.5 cents/share for a drop of 0.5 cents/share, and the other was Global Tree Technologies Inc. [NEX: GTT.H], which also closed at 1.5 cents/share for a decline of 0.5 cents/share. Unlike Biomerge's, though, Global Tree's trading was fairly sparse: two trades, of 6,000 shares at the closing price of 1.5 cents/share and an odd-lot-sized 700 shares at 0.5 cents/share. Both went at the same time, and they were sold through TD Securities. They gave GTT.H a total daily volume of 6,700 shares.

Finally, the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):

  1. Datinvest International Ltd. [NEX: DAI.H], closed at 20 cents for a loss of 6 cents - 1.16% of total shares outstanding;
  2. BHR Buffalo Head Resources Ltd. [NEX: BHR.H], closed at 18 cents unchanged - 0.553% of TSO;
  3. MP Western Properties Inc. [NEX: MPW.H], closed at 3 cents for a gain of 0.5 cents - 0.373% of TSO;
  4. Magnate Ventures Inc. [NEX: MGV.H], closed at 25.5 cents for a gain of 4.5 cents - 0.324% of TSO;
  5. Becker Gold Mines Ltd. [NEX: BGD.H], closed at 15.5 cents unchanged - 0.299% of TSO;

  7. Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H], closed at 45 cents for a loss of 2 cents - 0.225% of TSO;
  8. ITI World Investment Group Inc. class 'A' [NEX: IWI.H], closed at 40 cents for a gain of 4 cents - 0.163% of TSO;
  9. Challenger Development Corp. [NEX: CDQ.H], closed at 39 cents unchanged - 0.159% of TSO;
  10. Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], closed at 6.5 cents unchanged - 0.136% of TSO.

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 19th

Thirty-two NEX stocks traded on Friday. Of these, 11 advanced, 11 declined and 10 remained unchanged. There were 114 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], with 272,000 shares traded; Global Tree Technologies Inc. [NEX: GTT.H] was a close runner-up with 260,500 shares traded. Golden Hat was one of the NEX issues that traded more than ten times, as identified below. Global Tree wasn't; it traded only seven times on Friday. Except for one odd-lot-sized trade, all of them went at the same price, its closing price of 2 cent/share, which left Global Tree unchanged since Thursday's close.

According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Friday was Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H]. Rocher traded eight times, with six of those going at 47.5 cents/share. The fifth trade, of 10,000 shares, went at 48 cents/share; the sixth trade, of 4,000 shares, went at 48.5 cents/share. Those two gainer trades, though, didn't carry through; the last two went at 47.5 cents/share, RD.H's closing price. Rocher ended with a gain of 2.5 cents/share on the day, on daily volume of 55,000 shares. Golden Hat placed third on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below, and Global Tree placed fifth; Rocher placed tenth.

Three NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Friday. The most numerous trader in terms of number of trades was category regular Silvio Ventures Inc. [NEX: SIV.H], which traded thirteen times. Silvio is known for most of its trades being odd-lot'ers, but Friday saw all 13 trades of SIV.H being odd-lot-sized. Thus, despite Silvio being in first place in the most-numerous-trader category, its daily volume was only 1,203 shares. The first nine of those trades went at 47 cents/share; the other four went at 48 cents/share. As is usual, all of them were bought through PI Financial. Since no board-lot-sized trade appeared, the closing price was not affected, so Silvio closed unchanged at 51 cents/share.

Second on the list was MP Western Properties Inc. [NEX: MPW.H], which traded twelve times on Friday. The first four trades in MPW.H were all odd-lot-sized, and the buy-side financial institution for all of them was Haywood. The remaining eight were all board-lot-sized, and all except the last one went at 3 cents/share. That last one, of 28,000 shares, went at 2.5 cents/share and made for the closing price, leaving MP Western with a loss of 0.5 cents/share on daily volume of 160,390 shares. All of the board-lot-sized trades had Westwind as the sell-side financial institution, suggesting a sold block of 160,000 shares. MP Western placed second on the top-ten daily-turnover list, found below.

The third and final NEX stock to trade more than ten times was the above-mentioned Golden Hat, which closed up 0.5 cents/share. The first three trades, of 10,000, 12,000 and 28,000 shares respectively, went at 6.5 cents/share; all of them were bought through TD Securities, suggesting a bought block of 50,000 shares. TD was also the buy-side financial institution for the sixth through eigth trades, whose volumes totaled 100,000 shares. Two of these trades went for 6 cents/share and one went for 6.5 cents/share. The last three trades also had a buy-side financial institution in common and summed up to 100,000 shares of volume; these ones were bought through Wolverton. All of them went for 6.5 cents/share. The third through ninth trades, as well as the last one, were all sold through NBC Securities; those had volumes totaling 200,000 shares. All of these clusters suggest that a sold block of 200,000 was put on the market, with part of it being bought up in a 100,000-share block and another part being taken up as part of a 100,000 share block later. As mentioned above, Golden Hat closed at 6.5 cents/share, up 0.5 cents/share, on 272,000 shares daily volume. The 52-week high for GHA.H is 9 cents/share; the 52-week low is 4.5 cents/share, which effectively makes the stock a flatliner for the year.

The top percentage gainer in Friday's trading was Citadel Gold Mines Inc. [NEX: CGM.H], which closed at 16 cents/share for a gain of 4.5 cents/share, or 39.13%, on the day. Two trades put Citadel at the top in this category, of 20,000 shares for 15.5 cents/share at about 2:01 PM ET and 25,000 shares for the closing price of 16 cents/share at about 3:23 PM ET. Both trades were independent of each other, and the volume of both summed up to the daily volume of 45,000 shares.

The top percentage decliner for Friday was ITI World Investment Group Inc. class 'A' [NEX: IWI.H], which closed at 36 cents/share for a decline of 12 cents/share, or 50%, on the day. IWI.H has hung around its 52-week high of 50 cents/share in recent weeks, suggesting that this drop was a pullback. (The average price from late March to late September was close to 30 cents/share.) Four trades put the price of IWI.H down: the first trade, of 23,000 shares for 47 cents/share, went right after market's open; the other three, of 40, 40 and 36 cents/share, went in the afternoon. Those last three trades all had TD Securities as the sell-side financial institution; their volumes totaled 10,000 shares. Given that ITI World is a thinly-traded issue, those three seem to have been a 10,000 share sold block. Total daily volume for IWI.H was 33,000 shares.

Finally, the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. Rose Marie Resources Ltd. [NEX: RSR.H], closed at 9.5 cents for a loss of 1.5 cents - 2.22% of total shares outstanding;
  2. MP Western Properties Inc. [NEX: MPW.H], closed at 2.5 cents for a loss of 0.5 cents - 1.98% of TSO;
  3. Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], closed at 6.5 cents for a gain of 0.5 cents - 0.788% of TSO;
  4. Lomiko Resources Inc. [NEX: LMR.H], closed at 37 cents for a gain of 1.5 cents - 0.725% of TSO;
  5. Global Tree Technologies Inc. [NEX: GTT.H], closed at 2 cents unchanged - 0.503% of TSO;
  6. Gainey Resources Ltd. [NEX: GRD.H], closed at 32 cents for a gain of 4 cents - 0.370% of TSO;
  7. ITI World Investment Group Inc. class 'A' [NEX: IWI.H], closed at 36 cents for a loss of 12 cents - 0.288% of TSO;
  8. Citadel Gold Mines Inc. [NEX: CGM.H], closed at 16 cents for a gain of 4.5 cents - 0.287% of TSO;
  9. Avigo Resources Corp. [NEX: TMX.H], closed at 51 cents for a gain of 2.5 cents - 0.264% of TSO;
  10. Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H], closed at 47.5 cents for a gain of 2.5 cents - 0.216% of TSO.

[NEX: MAZ.H], with 464,500 shares traded. According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Thursday was Mazarin as well. One of Mazarin's seven trades was odd-lot-sized; it went at 5 cents/share. The others all went for 7 cents/share, leaving MAZ.H unchanged since Wednesday's close. Four of the trades, comprising 433,000 shares, were sold through an anonymous financial institution; three of those trades, whose volumes totaled 383,000 shares, were put through an anonymous financial institution on the buy side. Mazarin placed second on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below.

Three NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Thursday. The most numerous trader in terms of number of trades was Silvio Ventures [NEX: SIV.H], with 23 trades. All but five of them were odd-lot-sized trades, and all of them were bought through PI Financial. The first seven of the odd-lot'ers were made at 48 cents/share, and the others were made at 47 cents/share. The first three of the five board-lot-sized trades went at 51 cents/share, and the other two went at 50 cents/share. Silvio closed at that same 50 cents/share, down 1 cent/share on the day on volume of 10,470 shares.

The second most numerous trader was Biomerge Industries Ltd. [NEX: BIL.H]. Four of Biomerge's twelve trades were odd-lot-sized, and they were all bought through PI Financial. Those four went for 0.5 cents/share each. The eight board-lot-sized trades all went at 2 cents/share. The first nine of the day, which went within five minutes of each other, all had Desjardins as the sell-side financial institution: total volume for all nine was 31,400 shares. Biomerge closed unchanged, at that same 2 cents/share, on 42,700 shares.

Third on the most-numerous trader list for Thursday was Challenger Development Corp. [NEX: CDQ.H], with 11 trades. The first trade, of 5,000 shares, went at 39.5 cents/share. This price was equal to Wednesday's close, and was also the high of the day; it was matched by three other trades. The second went for 38.5 cents/share, and the three following went at the day's low of 37 cents/share. After getting back to 39.5 cents/share two trades subsequent, the price went down to 39 cents/share for one trade but then returned to 39.5 cents/share for the third- and second-last trades. That last sunk the price of Challenger back down to 39 cents/share, down 0.5 cents/share on the day on total daily volume of 65,000 shares. 60,000 of those shares were sold through an anonymous financial institution; 50,000 of them were bought through Canaccord. Challenger placed third on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below.

The top percentage gainer in Thursday's trading was Fairchild Investments Ltd. [NEX: FIC.H], which closed at 5.5 cents/share for a gain of 4 cents/share, or 266.7%, on the day. Despite the infrequency of trading in Fairchild, the last close of 1.5 cents/share was established on Monday; that close made a new 52-week low in the stock's price. Thursday's close was effected by one trade of 1,000 shares at about 2:37 PM ET.

The top percentage decliner for Thursday was YSV Ventures Inc. [NEX: XSV.H], which closed at 3 cents/share for a decline of 1 cent/share, or 25%, on the day. There were two trades in YSV on Thursday, but one of them was an odd-lot'er of 200 shares; so, the other trade of 14,000 shares put the price at the 3-cent close. Both of these trades were sold through Latimer and went within one minute of each other, suggesting that they were part of a single sold block.

Finally, the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. Electrohome Limited class 'Y' non-voting [NEX: ELL.K], closed at 15 cents for a gain of 5 cents - 1.04% of total shares outstanding;

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 17th

Thirty-four NEX stocks traded on Wednesday. Of these, 5 advanced, 4 declined and 25 remained unchanged. There were 115 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], with 347,000 shares traded. Golden Hat traded 5 times on Wednesday; four of those five trades went at exactly the same time, at about 1:58 PM ET. All four had Research Capital as the sell-side financial institution. Evidently, these four trades were part of a block, totalling 249,000 shares. All five trades went for the same price, 5.5 cents/share, and the final trade left Golden Hat unchanged since Tuesday's close. According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Wednesday was Toba Industries Ltd. [NEX: TBG.H]. Toba was also the most numerous trader, trading fifteen times; it closed up 1 cent/share at 15 cents/share. Golden Hat placed second on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below; Toba placed third.

Three NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Wednesday. As mentioned just above, the most numerous trader in terms of number of trades was Toba. The first eight trades, with volumes totaling 137,000 shares, had Jennings as the buy-side financial institution. The first one went for 14 cents/share, as did the fifth through seventh; the second through fourth went for 14.5 cents/share, and the eighth went for the day's low of 13.5 cents/share. The ninth, of 25,000 shares between 1:34 and 1:35 PM ET, went for 14.5 cents/share. The last six, all of which went in the last half-hour of trading, were divided up into two clusters of four and two trades by buy-side financial institution and timing. Trades ten though thirteen were all bought through Canaccord, and went in a time period of little more than three minutes. Those trades totaled 50,000 shares; all of them went at 14.5 cents/share. The last two, which went at the same time, were bought through CIBC and totalled 20,000 shares. The former trade, of 15,000 shares, went for 14.5 cents/share; the latter, of 5,000 shares, went at the day's high of 15 cents/share. As mentioned above, Toba closed up a penny a share at that same 15 cents/share.

The second most numerous trader was Silvio Ventures [NEX: SIV.H], with thirteen trades. As is usual for this stock, the bulk of the trades were odd-lot-sized: twelve out of thirteen for Wednesday. Those odd-lot'ers all went at 48 cents/share, and all of them had PI Financial as the sell-side financial institution. The same PI Financial was the sell-side financial institution for the only board-lot-sized trade in SIV.H, of 5,000 shares, which went at 51 cents/share. Silvio closed unchanged at that same 51 cents/share, on daily volume of 7,508 shares, as the board-lot'ers are the only ones counted for daily-change purposes. The odd-lot price didn't change since Tuesday's close either.

The third most numerous trader, with 11 trades on Wednesday, was a name that's becoming a regular in this category as well: Biomerge Industries Ltd. [BIL.H], with eleven trades. The price of the eight board-lot-sized trades fluctuated between 2 and 2.5 cents/share, while the three odd-lot-sized trades all went at 0.5 cents/share. Biomerge wound up closing at 2 cents/share, unchanged since Tuesday's close, on daily volume of 82,500 shares.

The top percentage gainer in Wednesday's trading was HLD Land Development Limited Partnership [NEX: HLD.UN.H], which closed at 28 cents/share for a gain of 4 cents/share, or 16.67%, on the day. The trades in HLD took place within thirty minutes of each other; there were five of them in that time. The first four were all sold through Laurentian: two of them were board lots, of 3,000 and 3,500 shares, and two of them were odd lots. The board lots went for 26 cents/share, while the odd lots went for 24 cents/share. The last trade, of 2,000 shares, went for the closing price of 28 cents/share that put HLD in this slot.

The top percentage decliner for Wednesday was Rose Marie Resources Ltd. [NEX: RSR.H], which closed at 10.5 cents/share for a decline of 1.5 cents/share, or 12.5%, on the day. There were six trades in RSR.H: the first two, of 12,000 and 8,000 shares, went at Tuesday's closing price of 12 cents/share. The next four, all of which were sold through an anonymous financial institution, went at a lower price per share. 11 cents/share was the price for the third and fourth, and the closing price of 10.5 cents/share was made by the fifth and sixth trades. This close put RSR.H within 0.5 cents/share of its 52-week low. [Rose Marie was panned Wednesday morning as part of a Vancouver Sun article on the doings of accountant/promoter Brian Gracey; Canjex Publishing has the Rose-Marie-specific part of it here.]

Finally, the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. Rose Marie Resources Ltd. [NEX: RSR.H], closed at 10.5 cents for a loss of 1.5 cents - 2.12% of total shares outstanding;
  2. Golden Hat Resources Inc. [NEX: GHA.H], closed at 5.5 cents unchanged - 1.01% of TSO;
  3. Toba Industries Ltd. [NEX: TBG.H], closed at 14.5 cents for a gain of 0.5 cents - 0.424% of TSO;
  4. Avigo Resources Corp. [NEX: TMX.H], closed at 55 cents for a gain of 5 cents - 0.383% of TSO;
  5. Mazarin Inc. [NEX: MAZ.H], closed at 7 cents unchanged - 0.297% of TSO;

Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 16th

Thirty-nine NEX stocks traded on Tuesday. Of these, 7 advanced, 12 declined and 20 remained unchanged. There were 153 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume, by far, was Global Tree Technologies Inc. [NEX: GTT.H], with 895,000 shares traded. According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Tuesday was Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H]. Both traded more than ten times today, as elaborated upon below. Global Tree placed third on the top ten daily-turnover list, found below; Rocher placed fifth.

Five NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Tuesday. Most numerous in terms of trades was the same issue with the greatest raw volume, Global Tree, with 16 trades. The first trade, of 80,000 shares, went at 2.5 cents/share, but the price declined as of the second trade. That second one appears to have been part of a four-trade block of 200,000 shares: those four trades came at about the same time, and all four had BMO Nesbitt as the sell-side financial institution. They all went for 2 cents/share. The sixth through eighth trades, all going within six minutes of each other, appeared to be part of another sold block of 300,000 shares, as they all went through Scotia on the sell side: they too went for 2 cents/share each. Scotia also appeared as the buy-side financial institution for trades nine though thirteen, all made at exactly the same time (about 11:36 AM ET.) These trades were all made at 2.5 cents/share, and had a total volume of 200,000 shares. That price of 2.5 cents/share, equal to Monday's closing price, didn't hold for the last three trades, though: those last three, all of which were independent of each other, went for 2 cents/share. So, for three trade-clusters that could be reasonably identified as blocks, the bought blocks put the price of Global Tree at 2.5 cents/share, and the sold blocks put it at 2 cents/share. The remaining four trades, which were definitely independent of each other, went for 2 cents/share, except for the first which went at 2.5 cents/share. (That first was also the first trade of the day in GTT.H.) Global Tree closed at 2 cents/share, as indicated just above, for a drop of 0.5 cents/share on the day. As noted in the previous paragraph, total daily volume of GTT.H was 895,000 shares: 615,000 of them, for a value of $12.300, went at 2 cents/share, and 280,000 of them, for a value of $7,000, went at 2.5 cents/share.

There was a tie for the second-most-numerous-trader slot on Tuesday: both issues had 13 trades each. The first in this slot was Biomerge Industries Ltd. [NEX: BIL.H]. The first two trades of BIL.H, of 20,000- and 25,000-share volumes each, went for 1.5 cents/share; the rest, except for odd-lot-sized trades, went for 2 cents/share, making for a 0.5 cent/share gain for the stock with respect to Monday's close. The fourth through eighth trades all went at the same time, and all had TD Securities as the buy-side financial institution: they evidently were part of a block whose volume totaled 169,000 shares. There appeared to be two two-trade sold blocks, one of which was completely absorbed by the presumed TD-bought block and the other partially absorbed by it. All of these apparent blocks went at 2 cents/share. Three of the 13 trades in Biomerge were odd-lot-sized; all of them went for 0.5 cents/share each. The buy-side financial institution for all three of them, of 500, 500 and 400 shares volume in chronological order, was PI Financial. BIL.H closed at 2 cents/share, for a gain of 0.5 cents/share, on total daily volume of 254,400 shares.

The other issue with thirteeen trades on Tuesday was the above-mentioned Rocher Deboule, which had a strong showing almost from the get-go. The first three trades, all of which were sold through E-Trade a second after the market opened, went at 44 cents/share; this put Rocher at a 1.5 cent/share loss with respect to Monday's closing. That loss position was erased within five minutes of market's open, though, when a 4,000 share trade went at 47 cents/share. The next four trades went at 50 cents/share. Those four, plus the two following which went at 48.5 cents/share, were all bought through Canaccord, although they didn't seem to be part of a single block due to time spacing and the unevenness of the total volume. (The four at 50 cents/share, with volume totaling 22,000 shares, could have been one.) The final three trades, all bought through Blackmont, went for 48 cents/share and seem to be part of a 30,000-share bought block. Those last three left Rocher closing with a gain of 2.5 cents/share on the day, with 103,000 shares traded.

The third-place slot for most numerous trader was also occupied by two issues, each with 11 trades during the day. First of these was an issue whose Tuesday trades all went for a price equal to or greater than its previous trades. The first two trades in Cantrell Capital Corp. [NEX: CLJ.H], made at about 12:05 PM ET although both were independent of each other, went at a price equal to its previous closing price, 10 cents/share. Its price rose quickly afterwards, with the third through sixth trades being bought through E-Trade at 11, 12, 14 and 15 cents/share. These four trades totaled 5,000 shares in volume, suggesting a bought block - or part of one. What was unusual about this bought block is that the trades in it all had the same sell-side financial institution, Raymond James, as did the one following. Unless the shares sold through Raymond in those five trades were part of an iceberg order, they could not have composed a block unto themselves. (It would have been unusual if they had, as sold blocks tend to accompany a flat or declining price.) E-Trade was also on the buy side for the next two trades, which both went at 16 cents/share. The second-last trade, of 1000 shares at 18 cents/share, was bought through an anonymous financial institution; so was the final one of 10,000 shares at 20 cents/share. Both of these last two trades went at exactly the same time, at about 3:42 PM ET. All of this activity led to a doubling of the price of CLJ.H on Tuesday, on volume of 28,500 shares.

The fifth and final NEX issue to trade more than 10 times, the second one in the third-place slot for number of trades, was one of the frequent members of the more-than-ten-a-day category. Only one of the eleven trades in Silvio Ventures Inc. [NEX: SIV.H], the sixth of the day, was of board-lot size; it went for 51 cents/share. The other ten were odd-lot-sized, and all except one went at 48 cents/share. These nine were bought through PI Financial. The odd-lot-sized trade that didn't go at that price went for 63 cents/share, and it had PI on the sell side; its volume was 80 shares. Since only board-lot-sized trades are counted for price-change purposes, Silvio closed unchanged once again, at 51 cents/share, on daily volume of 2,356 shares.

The top percentage gainer in Tuesday's trading was the above-mentioned Cantrell Capital, which closed at 20 cents/share for a gain of 10 cents/share, or 100%, on the day. There was a two-way tie for the top percentage decliner slot for Tuesday: Becker Gold Mines Ltd. [NEX: BGD.H], which closed at 20 cents/share for a decline of 10 cents/share, and Electrohome Limited class 'Y' non-voting, which closed at 10 cents/share for a decline of 5 cents/share, both went down 33.33% on the day. Both of these issues trade infrequently: Becker's last trade was on August 16th and Electrohome class Y's was on October 10th. Although the latter's close put it within a cent/share of its 52-week low, it did put the non-voting shares of Electrohome at a lower price than Electrohome's class 'X' voting stock [NEX: ELL.H]. The class X shares last traded at 12 cents/share on October 5th. BGD.H traded three times on Tuesday, with total volume of 15,000 shares, which put it ninth on the top ten daily-turnover list found just below. ELL.K traded once, with volume of 4,000 shares. The first trade in Becker, of 10,000 shares, went for 20.5 cents/share.

Here is the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
  1. Rose Marie Resources Ltd. [NEX: RSR.H], closed at 12 cents for a loss of 0.5 cents - 1.95% of total shares outstanding;
