Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 10th

Thirty-three NEX stocks traded on Wednesday. Of these, 13 advanced, 8 declined and 12 remained unchanged. There were 118 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was the same as Tuesday's: Toba Industries Ltd. [NEX: TBG.H], with 61,667 shares traded. Global Tree Technologies Inc. [NEX: GTT.H] was a close runner-up, with 60,000 shares traded on Wednesday. Unusually, the top raw-volume trader made the #1 slot on less than 100,000 shares. Toba closed at 13 cents/share, up 0.5 cents/share since Tuesday's close, and Global Tree closed at 2 cents/share, unchanged since Friday's close.

According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Wednesday was Newstrike Capital Inc. [NEX: NES.H]. This first-place ranking was achieved on only one trade, of 18,000 shares at $1.25/share within a minute of the market's opening. No other trades of Newstrike were made during the day. Toba didn't place on the top-ten list of volume traded divided by total shares outstanding, found below; neither did Newstrike.

Two NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Wednesday. The holder of the top spot in terms of number of trades was the same as Tuesday's, and most of the trading days since it resumed trading on Sept. 21st. Wednesday's number of trades in Silvio Ventures Inc. [NEX: SIV.H] was sixteen, two fewer than on Tuesday; the same pattern of preponderently odd-lot-sized trades continued. The only board-lot-sized trade, for 3500 shares, went at 51 cents/share, making Silvio close up a penny since Tuesday's close at 51 cents/share; it was the second-last trade of the day, made at about 2:44 PM ET. Most of the fifteen odd lots went at 47 cents/share - specifically, the first eleven trades all went at that price. The twelfth, though, went for a penny per share more, as did the rest of the day's odd lots. The first odd-lot-sized trade to do so went at about 2:18 PM ET, a little less than a half an hour before the board-lot trade pushed the closing price up a penny/share. Wednesday's daily volume for SIV.H was 5,330 shares.

Second in number of trades was Isee3d Inc. [NEX: ICT.H], with 13 trades on Wednesday. As was the case with Silvio, Isee3d's trades mostly were odd-lot sized. The odd lots typically went at 2 cents/share below the prevailing board-lot price. Unlike Silvio, though, there was a change in the board-lot-sized trade price during the day: the first one, of 8,000 shares as of about 11:00 AM ET, went for 27 cents/share, while the other two went for 26.5 cents/share. The first of those two went at the same time as the 8,000-share one, and all three had National Bank as the sell-side financial institution. The two that went at 11 AM ET totaled 10,000 shares; the third was for 500 shares. The odd-lot-sized trades were the first five and the last five of the day: the former group went for 25 cents/share and the latter went for 24.5 cents/share. Latimer was the buy-side financial institution for all ten of them. Isee3d closed at that same 26.5 cents/share, down 0.5 cents/share since Tuesday's close, on volume of 12,001 shares.

The top percentage gainer in Wednesday's trading was Electrohome Limited class 'Y' non-voting [NEX: ELL.K], which closed at 15 cents/share for a gain of 5 cents/share, or 50%, on the day. This gain resulted from only one trade, of 40,000 shares as of about 9:38 AM ET, and put the non-voting shares of Electrohome three cents above the last closing price of the voting shares [NEX: ELL.H], set on Sept. 26th. Normally, the votings trade at a premium to the non-votings; it's quite unusual, period, to see the non-voting class of shares trade above the set price of the voting class. ELL.K placed second on the top-ten daily-turnover list, found just below.

The top percentage decliner for Wednesday was Prism Resources Inc. [NEX: PRS.H], which closed at 20.5 cents/share for a decline of 4.5 cents/share, or a flat 18%, on the day. Two trades, one of odd-lot size, put Prism in the top-decliner's category. The board-lot portion had a volume of 9,000 shares, and the odd-lot portion had a volume of 166 shares; both went within a minute of each other. National Bank was the sell-side financial institution for both trades, suggesting a block. The buy-side financial institution for the 166-share trade was PI Financial; for the 8000-share trade, it was an anonymous institution.

Finally, the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
