Highlighted NEX Stocks For October 9th

Thirty-two NEX stocks traded on Tuesday. Of these, 7 advanced, 16 declined and 9 remained unchanged. There were 130 trades. The top trader in terms of raw volume was Toba Industries Ltd. [NEX: TBG.H], with 102,500 shares traded; Golden Hat Resources Inc. was a close runner-up with 101,000 shares traded. Toba made the top of the list with only 5 trades, all but the last one going for 13 cents/share. That last one, of 12,500 shares at about 3:37 PM ET, was made at 12.5 cents/share. Because of it, Toba closed down 1 cent/share from Friday's close. Golden Hat closed at 5.5 cents/share, down 0.5 cents/share on the day. According to the TSX Venture closing summary, the top trader in terms of value of shares traded for Tuesday was Rocher Deboule Minerals Corp. [NEX: RD.H] with nine trades, all of which were made within two hours of the market's closing. The first five were made at 47 cents/share, and the remaining four were made at 46 cents/share; this left Rocher down a penny/share at the close on 46,500 shares traded in those nine trades. Toba placed ninth on the top-ten list of volume traded divided by total shares outstanding, found below, and Golden Hat placed sixth; Rocher didn't place at all. The clear winner in the raw-volume category last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Global Tree Technologies Inc. [NEX: GTT.H], didn't trade at all on Tuesday.

Three NEX stocks traded more than ten times on Tuesday, and the top rank in terms of number of trades was one of the usuals ever since it resumed trading. Silvio Ventures Inc. [NEX: SIV.H] traded eighteen times on Tuesday, the same number as Friday. The only board-lot-sized trade went at 50 cents/share and the others went at 47 cents/share; those ten odd-lot'ers were all bought through PI Finanacial, as has been usual for this stock. Once again, SIV.H closed unchanged, with daily volume of 3,448 shares.

There was a tie for second spot. Both Biomerge Industries Ltd. [NEX: BIL.H] and Isee3d Inc. [NEX: ICT.H] traded eleven times each on Tuesday. PI was also on the buy side for four odd-lot trades in Biomerge, at 0.5 cents/share each. The board-lot-sized trades all went for 2 cents/share, leaving BIL.H unchanged at the end of the day on volume of 14,120 shares. Six out of Isee3d's eleven trades were odd-lot-sized too, but PI was not on the buy side for any of them: Latimer was for five and National Bank was for the remaining one. (Latimer was also on the buy side for three of the five board lots too.) The last four odd lots, of 33, 13, 66 and 133 shares each, went for 25 cents/share, while the other two odd lotters, of 100 and 275 shares, went for 27 and 29 cents/share respectively. The first three board lots went for 29 cents/share, and the last two went for 27 cents/share (in chronological order,) leaving ICT.H down 2 cents/share on the day.

The top percentage gainer in Tuesday's trading was HLD Land Development Limited Partnership [NEX: HLD.UN.H], which closed at 27.5 cents/share for a gain of 3.5 cents/share, or 14.58%, on the day. Three trades did it; two of them, of 2,000 and 8,000 shares at 10:28 AM ET and 3:13 PM ET respectively, were both for 28 cents/share. The last one, at about 3:57 PM ET, was for 3,500 shares at the closing price. Had that last trade not kicked in, HLD.UN.H would have been a more clear winner in this category. All three trades had TD Securities as the buy-side financial institution, while E-Trade was on the sell side for only the last two. This suggests that buying pressure was partially staunched by selling pressure at the end of the day with possibly one bought block and two sell orders, one of which was possibly a sold block. The oddness of the volumes of those two possible blocks - the former equal to the daily volume of 13,500 shares and the latter equal to 11,500 shares - makes this guess dubious, unless they were part of larger (perhaps unfinished) bought and sold blocks. The amount of time between the trades adds further doubt.

The top percentage decliner for Tuesday was Arcland Resources Inc. [NEX: ADR.H], which closed at 17.5 cents/share for a decline of 6.5 cents/share, or 27.08%, on the day. One board-lot-sized trade, of 500 shares or 1 board lot at about 2:49 PM ET, put the price at its close and Arcland in this slot.

Finally, the above-mentioned list of yesterday's top ten traders, as measured by % of total outstanding shares or daily turnover (all prices in per-share terms):
